Water samples pass test

July 02, 2015

No pathogen was detected in post-disinfection water samples collected from Cathay Pacific aircraft, the Department of Health said today.

The department has been taking follow-up action after test results of water samples collected from Cathay aircraft were found to be unsatisfactory last week.

Of the 14 affected aircraft, 13 tested negative for coliform bacteria. However, the quantity of coliform bacteria cannot be confirmed in the sample from one aircraft due to testing interference.

Resampling has been conducted and the result is pending.

Two water tankers of Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company and Pan Asia Pacific Aviation Services have been thoroughly cleansed and disinfected after a trace amount of coliform bacteria was detected in them on June 29.

No pathogen or coliform bacteria has been detected in post-disinfection water samples.
