The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says it refused nine applications for fund-raising stalls along the July 1 procession route because they could obstruct those taking part in the procession as well as road users.
Responding to media enquiries today, the department said it advised the applicants to move their booths to the Lee Garden Road intersection or the Hennessy Road junction to ensure the procession moves smoothly.
Some applicants have already resubmitted their applications, and the department will issue the licences if there are no further objections from other departments.
The department received 46 applications for setting up stalls along the procession route.
Twenty-one licences were granted, while 13 were refused. Nine are still being processed and the rest were withdrawn or require no further action due to insufficient information.
