Help desk to assist care home residents

May 30, 2015

The Social Welfare Department will set up a service booth at the Tai Po (South) Integrated Family Service Centre tomorrow, to provide enquiry and support service for the residents of Tai Po Cambridge Nursing Home, which may not get its licence renewed.

The service booth, located at 4/F, Tai Po Community Centre, 2 Heung Sze Wui Street, Tai Po Market (Tel: 2657 8832) will operate from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm tomorrow.

The department's help desk staff have already contacted the families of all 57 affected residents. Caseworkers will continue to follow up on the residential care needs of individual elderly residents to ensure proper arrangements for them.

On reports that other elderly homes in Tai Po are hiking their prices, the department said it has reached a consensus with The Elderly Services Association of Hong Kong. Some 20 elderly home member agencies of the Association in Tai Po have agreed to help the affected residents with no fee increases.

Residents and their relatives could also call the designated help desk at 3183 9356 during office hours, or the department's 24-hour hotline, 2343 2255, for assistance.
