Around 300 Islands District residents, teachers, students and volunteers took part in the Islands District Healthy City Tree Planting Festival - Green Lantau 2015 today, planting 1,500 native seedlings at Nei Lak Shan, Lantau.

Participants were offered a free ride on the Ngong Ping 360 cable car from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping Village, then hiked to the planting site.

The event is co-hosted by the Islands District Council and the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department.

A total of 22,000 native seedlings have been planted in the past five years. The activity is aimed at enhancing the ecological environment and biodiversity of Lantau Island, increasing nature conservation awareness and encouraging participation in greening work.
