The Centre for Health Protection has urged people to stop using YIFUMEI Supple & White Night Cream as it may contain excessive mercury.
The appeal came after notification from the Hospital Authority of a case of mercury poisoning involving a woman, 42, who used the product for a month before symptoms appeared.
It was found to have a level of mercury 27,317 times the acceptable level.
The centre has referred the case to the Customs & Excise Department for investigation.
