Youth report released

March 31, 2015

The Commission on Youth today published a report on a study of the youth competitiveness indicator system in Hong Kong.

The commission, through the Home Affairs Bureau, appointed Hong Kong Shue Yan University's Business, Economic & Public Policy Research Centre to conduct the study.

The study's purpose was to clarify the concept of youth competitiveness, develop approaches to define the concept and propose an assessment standard.

Researchers defined the concept of youth competitiveness through reviewing documents and reports, and by interviewing experts. A total of 4,253 questionnaires filled in by people aged 15 to 24 were collected.

The report suggested more in-depth studies be conducted in future on the basis of the indicator system, while taking into account young people's different scenarios and needs.
