99.8% of samples pass food safety tests

March 31, 2015

The Centre for Food Safety tested about 7,600 food samples in February, achieving an overall 99.8% satisfactory rate.

Apart from 12 unsatisfactory samples announced earlier by the centre, all samples passed the tests.

The failed samples included seven vegetable samples, two dried mushroom samples, one fresh beef sample, one pre-packed sliced rice cake sample and one pork floss cracker sample.

The centre has taken follow-up actions on the unsatisfactory samples including informing the trade concerned and instructing them to stop sale of the offending food items, tracing the source of the food items in question and taking follow-up samples for analysis.
