2 food samples fail safety test

February 05, 2015

The Centre for Food Safety has tested 90 Lunar New Year food samples and found two unsatisfactory.

A pre-packed Wing Wah pork floss cracker sample, taken from a shop in Wan Chai, failed to declare a permitted preservative it contained.

While a pre-packed Shanghai Tingtop sliced rice cake, taken from a supermarket in Tsuen Wan, was found to have a prohibited preservative.

The centre has taken follow-up actions on the unsatisfactory samples, including informing the vendors concerned, instructing the vendors to stop selling the affected food items, and tracing the source and distribution.

The centre will also alert the trade to the incident and urge them to stop selling the products.
