A total of 23,888 pyrotechnic shells will be fired from three barges in the Lunar New Year fireworks display on February 20, to ring in the Year of the Ram.
The 23-minute show, consisting of nine scenes, will start at 8pm over Victoria Harbour.
The fireworks display was developed to appeal particularly to the post-‘80s generation. Popular Hong Kong artistes’ songs will serve as background music for the show.
It will feature Chinese characters such as "spring" and "ram", signaling the start of the Year of the Ram.
In the seventh scene, the Chinese characters for "harmony" and the lucky number "8" will appear together on the skyline, symbolising a peaceful and auspicious new year.
Those enjoying the show can tune in to RTHK Radio 4 (FM 97.6 to 98.9) to hear synchronised music.
