Live chicken supply to rise

(January 12, 2015)

The local live chicken supply will rise from 4,000 to 4,800 tomorrow, the Food & Health Bureau announced today.

The actual quantity of supply will depend on the decisions and arrangements of poultry farms and wholesalers.

Nine farms, eight wholesalers and 13 trucks will transfer chickens to connecting vehicles at the Ta Kwu Ling checkpoint for distribution.

The Government has been closely monitoring and continuously reviewing its procedures to ensure the checkpoint is running smoothly, while keeping environmental hygiene and biosecurity measures intact and minimising any possible impact to nearby residents.

The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department will install an additional noise insulating canvas to further reduce noise.

The Government will maintain communication with the trade and Ta Kwu Ling residents to co-ordinate the number of chickens supplied and vehicles involved each day.
