Health survey to be conducted

December 19, 2014

The Centre for Health Protection will launch the Population Health Survey at the end of this month.

Announcing the study today, the centre’s consultant Dr Regina Ching said it will strengthen the Government's information base to assess health patterns in the population.

"[It will] support effective and evidence-based decision-making and formulation of health measures, and facilitate resource allocation as well as the planning and evaluation of health services and programmes," Dr Ching said.

Interviewers will visit selected households to conduct interviews with all people aged 15 and above. Respondents will be invited to complete a questionnaire.

Selected respondents will then be invited to undergo a health examination at designated centres or clinics, including physical measurements and biochemical testing.

"We appeal to the public for active participation upon receipt of invitation letters on household interviews. Those selected for the free health examination will be contacted by phone to make an appointment," Dr Ching said.

Laboratory test reports will be returned to the respondents and the centre will advise those who have abnormal results.
