The Department of Health is monitoring two new Middle East Respiratory Syndrome cases in Qatar, involving two men aged 43 and 71 from Doha.
The 43-year-old patient started displaying symptoms on October 14. He was hospitalised on October 20 and is in a stable condition. He frequently visited a camel barn during the incubation period.
The other patient, a 71-year-old man with underlying illnesses, developed symptoms on October 1 during a trip to Saudi Arabia. He was admitted to a Doha hospital and is now in critical condition. He owns a camel barn and has consumed raw camel milk.
To date, 885 laboratory-confirmed MERS cases have been reported to the WHO globally, including at least 319 deaths.
No MERS cases have been recorded in Hong Kong.
