Support service invites applications

October 30, 2014

The Integrated Support Service for Persons with Severe Physical Disabilities will be launched on November 1 and applications will be accepted until January 31 next year, the Social Welfare Department announced today.

The service aims to provide support for those with severe physical disabilities, including nursing care, rehabilitation training, personal care and carer support services.

People who depend on respiratory support medical equipment, or those with tetraplegia living in the community are invited to apply.

The service provides eligible applicants with two cash assistance programmes - the Special Subsidy for Renting Respiratory Support Medical Equipment and the Special Subsidy for Purchasing Medical Consumables - with the subsidy level for both capped at $2,500 per month.

Applicants should currently be using respiratory support medical equipment and receive income and asset assessment. For integrated home based support services co-ordinated by case managers, including those with severe physical disabilities, no income or asset assessment is required.

For enquiries, call the following non-governmental organisations operating the service: Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service for those on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon (3959 1700), and Po Leung Kuk for applications in the New Territories (5174 9436 /5129 3065).
