3 treated for Dengue fever

October 29, 2014

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating three imported cases of Dengue fever involving a 62-year-old man, his 32-year-old daughter and her 34-year-old husband. All are in a stable condition.

The family travelled to Guangzhou from October 13 to 19.

The 62-year-old man fell ill on October 18 and went to Ruttonjee Hospital on October 22 and 24. He did not need to be admitted.

Both the female patient and her husband fell ill on October 20. They also went to Ruttonjee Hospital on October 22 and did not need to be admitted.

The centre urged the public to take precautions against the disease when they travel, especially to areas where Dengue fever is prevalent.

There have been 91 confirmed cases this year, one local and 90 imported.
