The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload in September showed a drop of 903 cases - a decrease of 0.4% compared to August - the Social Welfare Department said today.
At the end of September, the social security caseload stood at 255,535, with a total of 384,305 recipients.
Breaking down the figures, low earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.7% to 8,023.
Unemployment and single-parent cases both fell 0.7% to 19,386 and 29,993.
The number of permanent-disability cases also dropped 0.3% to 18,311, while old-age and ill-health cases both dropped 0.1% to 149,555 and 25,136.
