Test results for more than 80 hairy crab samples collected at import and retail levels for chemical tests in a recent food surveillance project were all satisfactory.
The Centre for Food Safety said today the tests checked for veterinary drug residues, metallic contaminants, synthetic hormones, colouring matters, and oxalic acid.
Despite the satisfactory results, the centre advised people to maintain a balanced diet and avoid eating too many hairy crabs, particularly the cholesterol-rich roe.
