HK Week set for Taipei

September 18, 2014

Hong Kong Week 2014, an annual cultural exchange event with Taiwan, will be held in Taipei on October 17.

It will feature a host of programmes offering Taiwan viewers a close look at the essence and spirit of Hong Kong culture.

Hong Kong-Taiwan Cultural Co-operation Committee Convenor Fredric Mao announced the event at a press conference today.

One of Hong Kong's most important performing arts, Cantonese opera will be performed to Taiwan audiences for the first time in a direct on-stage collaboration with the island’s traditional Chinese opera.

The works of Yasi, one of Hong Kong’s most influential poets and writers, will also be introduced during the event in an exhibition jointly organised by the Art Promotion Office and the Hong Kong Fringe Club.

An exhibition curated by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum showcasing 13 items of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage will be held to show the city’s folk traditions.

Hong Kong Week is presented by the Hong Kong-Taiwan Cultural Co-operation Committee in association with the Hong Kong Economic, Trade & Cultural Office (Taiwan), and supported by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Film Development Council.
