The company believed to be at the centre of the gutter oil incident is under criminal investigation, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man said today.
Globalway Corporation is believed to have exported lard for animal feed as edible lard to Taiwan’s Chang Guann Company.
Dr Ko said the case had seriously affected Hong Kong's reputation.
He also said that the Government, together with the Legislative Council and the food industry, will study ways to ensure that used oil would not be recycled for human consumption.
