Ko Wing-man eyes agricultural trends

August 25, 2014

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man visited farms in the New Territories today, to learn about the latest local aquaculture and agriculture developments - and ways to promote the industries.

Dr Ko toured oyster rafts in Lau Fau Shan to familiarise himself with the raft culture method many oyster farmers have adopted in recent years, and went to Mai Po to visit two aquaculture farms which have been recognised under the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department's Accredited Fish Farm Scheme.

At a hydroponic farm in Fanling, he learned about advanced water cultivation technology for farming leafy vegetables in greenhouses. He also visited an organic farm in Ta Kwu Ling, which adopted advanced research and technology in developing modern organic farming methods.
