Ebola control measures checked
August 20, 2014
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man visited the Hospital Authority’s Infectious Disease Centre today to inspect Ebola prevention and control measures.
He also met frontline Princess Margaret Hospital staff to note their concerns.
Speaking to the media after the visit, Dr Ko said their major areas of concern are manpower shortages, the staff deployment and reinforcement mechanism, and protective equipment standards.
He said the Hospital Authority will study the issues and formulate guidelines to ensure adequate equipment supply and training.
It will also draw up plans so staff know under what situations and for how long they will be deployed to handle infected patients.
Dr Ko reiterated that Hong Kong’s healthcare system is well prepared to handle any Ebola cases.
