Matthew Cheung visits service centre

July 24, 2014

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung visited the Social Welfare Department’s Yau Ma Tei Integrated Family Service Centre today to inspect its operation.

He was briefed on the centre’s services, and on the district’s unique demographic profile and service needs.

He noted there are many new arrivals and ethnic minority families living in the area’s old buildings, and understood the need for the centre’s wide range of support services.

He also checked in on an English class for new arrivals and retired people, a painting class for ethnic minority children, and a parent-child cooking activity.

There are 65 Integrated Family Service Centres in Hong Kong delivering a wide spectrum of preventive, supportive and remedial services, including family life education, parent-child activities, counselling and outreach services.
