The monthly ovitrap index for June dropped to 11.7% from 12% in May, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department announced today.
The ovitrap indices reflect the prevalence of Aedes albopictus, a mosquito vector for Dengue fever transmission.
Of the 44 areas surveyed last month, all recorded positive ovitrap indices ranging from 2% to 32.1%. Six areas exceeded the 20% alert level, with the highest in Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay.
The monthly ovitrap index for port areas rose to 2.5% from 2.3%.
The ovitrap indices and information on anti-mosquito measures are available here.
