The Centre for Food Safety will prosecute a meat vendor after finding illicit preservative sulphur dioxide in a beef sample taken from a Mong Kok stall.
Acting on a complaint, the centre took the sample from the Fa Yuen Street Market stall for testing and found sulphur dioxide.
The centre said, based on the level of preservative detected, the development of acute symptoms was unlikely upon normal consumption of the meat.
The centre said it will prosecute the vendor and take follow-up samples for testing.
