Cheung Chau niches to be sold

April 14, 2014

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will accept applications for the allocation of 833 new standard niches at Cheung Chau Columbarium from tomorrow.

The department sold 167 new niches at the columbarium to indigenous villagers of Islands District and Cheung Chau residents in February.

It will accept applications to allocate another 833 new niches to eligible applicants on a first-come first-served basis from 9am tomorrow.

A standard niche can accommodate at least two sets of cremated ashes and arrangements can be made to place additional sets in the niche.

The fees for a standard niche and placing a memorial plaque at the columbarium are $2,800 and $90. The fee for placing each additional urn in an allocated niche is $140.

The application form is available on the department's website. Click here for details.
