The Centre for Health Protection is identifying contacts of the ninth confirmed human case of H7N9 in Hong Kong, an 82-year-old woman who normally resides in Liwan, Guangzhou.
She tested positive for the avian influenza strain last night.
Two close contacts, family members who accompanied the woman to Hong Kong, show no symptoms so far and were admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital for observation. Lab tests are underway.
Forty-four other contacts, including the woman's family member in Hong Kong, relevant healthcare workers, ambulance staff, and staff at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, show no symptoms and are under medical surveillance.
The centre has liaised with Mainland health authorities to follow up on the patient's contacts during her stay in the Mainland.
