Everyone aged six months or older should receive influenza vaccinations, except those with known risks from getting the jabs, the Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases recommends.
The Department of Health said the committee made the recommendation after reviewing local and overseas scientific evidence regarding vaccinations.
Based on data from 2003 to 2014 on seasonal influenza, as well as surveillance data on severe flu cases from 2011 to 2014, the committee noted that influenza A and influenza B viruses made up about 85% and 15% of all flu virus detections and severe flu cases on average.
