Food safety:  The 46th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Additives opens in Hong Kong.

Food committee meets in HK

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man and National Health & Family Planning Commission Vice Minister Chen Xiaohong opened the 46th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Additives in Hong Kong today.

 

Representatives from 54 member countries, one member organisation and 34 international organisations joined the session to discuss food additive standards and regulations.

 

The session’s report with conclusions and recommendations will be submitted to the 37th Codex Alimentarius Commission in July for deliberation and adoption.

 

The committee is responsible for setting coherent, practicable and scientific regulatory standards for its members to promote the safe use of food additives.
