The public will experience the world of anime and see the artistry of local talent in Create Hong Kong's Ani-Com Summer 2013 programme.
It is one of the signature events under the "Hip Hong Kong" theme in the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign.
Speaking at a press conference today, CreateHK head Jerry Liu said animation and comics are important and popular cultural elements embedded in Hong Kong's history since the 1970s.
He said this important legacy can be passed from the older generation to youngsters, and Ani-Com will bring a larger consumer and audience base to facilitate growth in the animation and comic sector.
“One of our aspirations is appealing to the younger generation, because they are the ones that are going to provide that continued appreciation and that continued energy, be they part of that consumer sector, or even more, part of the creative sector as well,” Mr Liu said.
Ani-Com's core programmes include the Comics & Animation Summer Carnival in Victoria Park, the Greatest Animated Commercials from Hong Kong showcase, the opening events of Comix Home Base, and the International Animation Festival 2013.
Other programmes include Comics x Figures – Hong Kong Ani-Com Figure Show; Comix Home Base: 'Tribute to Masters' Series (i) – 'The Birth of a Hero - Exhibition of Ma Wing-Shing's Comics Works' & Master Class; a mascot design competition; and, Ani-Com's closing ceremony.
Six fringe programmes, including a six-day comic camp, as well as a concert and exhibition, will also be held.
