Man treated for bacterial infection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-7 (NDM-7) Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae involving an 83-year-old man.
The patient, who stayed in India, sought local medical attention for fever in April and was hospitalised for further management.
Arriving in Hong Kong on May 28, he was admitted to hospital on June 7 for diarrhoea.
His family contacts are asymptomatic, and he is in stable condition.
It is the 29th detected case of NDM-7 in Hong Kong.
