5 Mainland H7N9 cases reported

The Centre for Health Protection verified with the National Health & Family Planning Commission today one human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Jiangsu, one in Shanghai and three in Zhejiang.
 
The Jiangsu case involves a 43-year-old man who is receiving treatment in hospital. He is in critical condition. His 23 close contacts are asymptomatic.
 
The Shanghai case involves a 75-year-old woman who is receiving treatment in hospital and is stable. Her 15 close contacts are asymptomatic.
 
The three cases in Zhejiang involve a woman aged 35 and two men aged 37 and 56. The three are receiving treatment in hospital and are in serious condition.
 
As of 9pm today, laboratory results have confirmed 96 cases of avian influenza A(H7N9), 33 in Shanghai, 33 in Zhejiang, 23 in Jiangsu, three in Anhui, three in Henan, and one in Beijing.
 
No human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) has been identified in Hong Kong.
