8 foods fail safety tests

Eight foods failed Centre for Food Safety checks last month.
 
Of the 10,100 food samples tested, vegetables, seafood and milk products failed the chemical and microbiological tests.
 
A dried white fungus and a bamboo fungus were found to contain excess preservative sulphur dioxide.
 
A Chinese celery sample contained excess metal contaminant cadmium.
 
A raw oyster contained norovirus nucleic acid.
 
A raw milk sample (before heat treatment) had coliform organisms. It was also found to contain excess bacteria. It was collected at the import level and no affected product entered the local market.
 
A coconut tart contained salmonella.
 
The test results for two others were announced earlier.
 
The centre has issued warning letters to the vendors concerned.
