Man ill with Legionnaires

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of Legionnaires' disease involving a 64-year-old man in serious condition.
He fell ill on January 16. He was admitted to the Caritas Medical Centre’s Accident & Emergency Department on January 22, and was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit on January 24.
He tested positive for Legionella pneumophilia.
He has no recent travel history and his home contacts are normal.
This is the first case of Legionnaires' disease reported to the centre this year. There were 28 cases filed in 2012, and 17 in 2011.
