Man critical with Legionnaires

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of Legionnaires' disease involving a 53-year-old man who is in critical condition.
He fell ill on December 12 and was admitted to United Christian Hospital on December 19. He was transferred to the intensive care unit the following day.
He tested positive for the serogroup 1 Legionella pneumophilia antigen.
He has no recent travel history and his home contacts are normal.
It is the 28th case of Legionnaires' disease reported to the centre this year. Seventeen cases were filed in 2011.
