Man with drug-resistant infection dies

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a fatal case of invasive community-associated Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) involving a 52-year-old Eastern District man.
 
He was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on October 16 and transferred to Tung Wah Hospital on October 22.
 
He tested positive for the MRSA bacterium.
 
He died on November 24.
