Legionella bacteria found in Fanling building

The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department has ordered the disinfection of a cooling tower in a Fanling building after it was found to contain Legionella bacteria.
 
The sample was collected from Heng Hing Industrial Building on Yip Cheong Street.
 
It was among 80 water samples from 60 buildings the department tested in October.
 
The department issued a nuisance notice under the Public Health & Municipal Services Ordinance to the building's owner, and disinfection of the tower has since been completed.
