Bocavirus cases probed

October 09, 2012
The Department of Health is seeking more information on four recent cases of bocavirus infection detected at boundary control points in Shenzhen and has set up temperature screening for travellers at these points.

It is in contact with the Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau to learn more about the cases.

Bocavirus may cause respiratory tract infection and gastroenteritis, and children are more susceptible to it.

Travellers who are found to develop fever and infectious-disease symptoms will be given health advice and referrals to medical institutions to reduce the risk of the spread of the disease to Hong Kong.
