Welfare cases fall 0.1%

The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload fell to 274,464 in May, down 0.1% on April.
The Social Welfare Department said today unemployment cases fell 0.8% to 25,576, while low-earnings cases dropped 0.7% to 11,543.
Single-parent cases also dropped by 0.1% to 32,472.
Old age, permanent-disability, and ill-health cases all showed an increase of 0.1% to 154,019, 18,369 and 25,310 cases respectively.
