NDM case detected

The Centre for Health Protection has identified an imported case of New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase Carbapenemase producing Enterobacteriaceae in a 94-year-old woman, Hong Kong’s eighth case of the antibiotic-resistant infection.
The patient, with chronic illness, lives in Dongguan on the Mainland. She was admitted to a hospital in Dongguan from April 26 to May 7 for treatment for chest pain.
She was then admitted to North District Hospital on May 9. She tested positive for the infection on May 17. She is now stable.
