Man ill with drug-resistant infection
May 09, 2012
The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a community-associated Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or CA-MRSA, infection in a 63-year-old man.
The Eastern District patient, with underlying illness, was diagnosed as having poor liver function and multiple liver abscesses on April 24. He was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on the same day.
He tested positive for CA-MRSA. He is now stable and his home contacts have no symptoms.
