Tourist ill with Legionnaires' disease

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a confirmed case of Legionnaires' Disease involving a 62-year-old tourist.The patient, with a history of good health, developed headache, joint pain, cough and fever since October 23. He was admitted to a private hospital on October 25 and is in stable condition.
Tests showed he had a Legionella bacteria infection.
He had travelled to the Mainland from October 15 to 24 and his two travel partners had no symptoms.
This is the 12th case of the disease reported this year. There were 20 cases in 2010, and 37 in 2009.
