Health consensus reached

The health authorities of Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau have agreed to further strengthen communication and co-operation in combating infectious diseases and boost prevention and control measures against scarlet fever and measles.The consensus was reached at the 11th tripartite meeting on the prevention and control of infectious diseases held in Macau yesterday and today.
The three sides agreed to continue strengthening co-operation in tackling infectious diseases and public health emergencies by holding the tripartite meeting regularly and implementing the tripartite agreement of co-operation on measures to tackle public-health incidents and to enhance the emergency response system.
They will continue to enhance the early alert mechanism for communicable diseases and continue with co-operation in measles elimination with a view to eliminating the disease.
They will also maintain polio-free status and promote further exchanges on joint response plans.
Exchanges and co-operation on laboratory surveillance of infectious diseases, epidemiology and public health measures on scarlet fever, as well as surveillance of anti-microbial resistance will be strengthened.
They will foster co-operation on training of public-health personnel, including experience and resource sharing.
The Guangdong Department of Health will organise the next meeting.
