Gov't reviewing fund approvals

The Government is studying how to simplify the approval procedure of the Legislative Council Finance Committee in order to pass infrastructure construction proposals swiftly.
 
Speaking to the media today, Financial Secretary Paul Chan said such a study is necessary as many infrastructure construction projects were not able to get funding approval before the committee held its last meeting before the summer recess.
 
Late vetting of such proposals not only slows down progress of works, but also affects socio-economic development, he added.
