Financial Secretary John Tsang says he had a fruitful trip to Beijing and hopes to make further progress on the work discussed with his Mainland counterparts in the coming year.
Speaking to the media upon his return to Hong Kong tonight, Mr Tsang said he called on China Securities Regulatory Commission Chairman Liu Shiyu and Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng earlier today.
They discussed the progress made on their co-operation and the work highlighted in the past year, as well as that marked for next year.
Asked about the Department of Justice’s possible move to seek a judicial review on the oath-taking of legislator Lau Siu-lai, Mr Tsang said the notion of “Hong Kong independence” is detrimental to the community and should not be tolerated.
