The Office of the Communications Authority today warned the public of fraudulent calls with a pre-recorded message purporting to be made by it.
The calls claim there are anomalies with the called party's telephone service.
There is a "+" sign prefixed to the phone number of some of these fraudulent messages, indicating they originate from outside Hong Kong, even though the number may be masqueraded as a Hong Kong one.
The office said it has not made, and would not make, such calls with pre-recorded messages.
It reminded people to stay alert to phone scams and to contact their telecommunications operators if they have questions regarding the status of their services.
