The Rating & Valuation Department will send 310,000 forms to payers of rates and Government rent today requesting rent details and other tenancy information for different categories of properties.
The department said the information collected will be used to prepare a new round of general revaluation which will better reflect prevailing market rents of properties.
The new rateable values will take effect from next April.
Rates and Government rent payers should complete and return the forms within three weeks. They can also complete the process online.
If necessary, they should apply in writing for allowance of late submissions before the end of the specified period, and state their reasons.
