Mainland-HK science meeting held

Secretary for Innovation & Technology Nicholas Yang co-chaired the 11th meeting of the Mainland/Hong Kong Science & Technology Co-operation Committee with Vice Minister of Science & Technology Yin Hejun in Guiyang today.

 

Mr Yang said the National 13th Five-Year Plan expresses the Mainland’s support to commence co-operation with Hong Kong in innovation and technology.

 

It also shows support to young people of Hong Kong to develop start-up businesses in the Mainland, and Hong Kong.

 

“Hong Kong should grasp the opportunities brought about by the Plan and make full use of its role as 'super-connector' to foster I&T exchanges and collaboration among local, Mainland and overseas institutions and companies," he added.

 

Noting that youngsters are crucial to the development of innovation and technology, he said the committee agreed both sides would cooperate in promoting exchanges between young people of both places.

 

Mainland participants of meeting are from the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office, the Central People's Government Liaison Office as well as state, provincial and municipal science institutions.

 

The Hong Kong delegation at the meeting comprised representatives from the Innovation & Technology Bureau, the Innovation & Technology Commission, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, universities and research institutions.
