Financial Secretary John Tsang has departed for Beijing to attend the First Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Speaking to media at the airport this morning, Mr Tsang said the meeting will discuss the bank's working progress in the past year and elect its board members.
He added that he hopes Hong Kong can join the bank as a non-sovereign territory soon.
Commenting on the British referendum, Mr Tsang said Hong Kong is well prepared and has sufficient liquidity to face volatility in the markets.
