The volume of Hong Kong's re-exports of goods decreased 0.1% year-on-year in April, while that of domestic exports decreased by 16.6%, the Census & Statistics Department said today.
Taken together, the volume of total exports of goods decreased by 0.3%. Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods decreased by 2.9%.
Comparing the first four months of 2016 with the same period in 2015, the volume of Hong Kong's re-exports of goods decreased by 3%, while that of domestic exports decreased by 13.3%.
Taken together, the volume of total exports of goods decreased by 3.2%. Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods decreased by 4.7%.
Comparing the three-month period ending April 2016 with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total exports of goods decreased by 6%.
Within this total, the volume of re-exports decreased by 6%, while that of domestic exports decreased by 4.7%. Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods decreased by 5.7%.
