Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So has invited Lithuanian enterprises to come to Hong Kong and tap the massive business opportunities in the Belt & Road markets during his visit to Vilnius.

Speaking at a business seminar hosted by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office London, Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Mr So said "one country, two systems" has made Hong Kong the super-connector that facilitates connections under the initiative.

He noted that Hong Kong offers unique physical and intangible connectivity to the Mainland with privileged trade and social access and has a well-established system that connects Hong Kong to the international community in terms of its legal system, language and trade practices.

Before the seminar, Mr So visited start-up accelerator, Startup Highway to learn about the country's start-up scene.

He also paid a courtesy call on Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius where they discussed the massive business opportunities for countries along the Belt & Road including Lithuania. Both parties said they looked forward to strengthening economic co-operation.

Mr So is scheduled to meet Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Raimundas Karoblis.

Yesterday, he met Lithuanian Culture Vice-Minister Arnas Neverauskas and Minister of Economy Evaldas Gustas. He also called on the Chinese Embassy and visited the Vilnius University Joint Life Sciences Centre and Visoriai Information Technology Park.
