Gregory So to visit Europe

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So will visit the UK and Lithuania May 20 to 25 to strengthen Hong Kong's ties with the two countries and promote its role under the Belt & Road Initiative.

 

In London Mr So will speak at a creative industries seminar and open the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office London's new premises. He will also visit a start-up facility in East London's Tech City and Central Saint Martins college of arts and design at University of the Arts London.

 

He will tour the Warner Bros Studio and a bicycle manufacturer and see how food trucks are run before meeting the Chinese business community and design and fashion sector representatives.

 

He will visit the Victoria & Albert Museum, inspect a 2016 London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival training session and meet with Hong Kong participants. He will also hold talks with Hong Kong Institution of Engineers UK Chapter representatives and speak with Hong Kong people studying and working in the country.

 

He will attend a breakfast roundtable at Chatham House and a meeting with government officials and members of Parliament. He will also call on the Chinese Embassy in London.

 

In Vilnius Mr So will meet Lithuanian government officials and business sector representatives and speak at a business seminar co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, London, Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

 

He will call on the Chinese Embassy and visit a life science centre, Vilnius University, Visoriai Information Technology Park and a start-up accelerator.

 

Under Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Godfrey Leung will be Acting Secretary during Mr So's absence.
